A Ministry Serving the Families of our Community
Created in 1980 SonShine Childcare is a peaceful, secure, creative environment for children and families in the Manlius area. We provide a loving environment where your child is nurtured physically, emotionally, intellectually and spiritually. Since our facility was formerly a school, it is ideal for childcare. We have many spacious rooms, playgrounds, and a large gym. Our location is convenient and picturesque , in the old tree-lined neighborhood of Pleasant Street. We are located just down the road from the Manlius Post Office.
Ages: 6 weeks to 6th grade
Hours of Operation: 6:30am-5:30pm

We are New York State licensed and have a large qualified staff who meet state training requirements, many with more than 10 years of teaching experience. Every lead teacher has a Child Development Associate Credential or a degree in Early Childhood and are CPR/First Aid Certified.
Every teacher also has training in Allergy & Anaphylaxis as well.
Teacher/child ratios are maintained in every classroom throughout the entire center. Our teachers have as much fun as the children, making play, projects and programs enjoyable.
At SonShine we focus in early childhood learning experiences and meet the children where they are at providing developmentally appropriate classrooms, resources and activities. Our first priority is the care and safety of every child at SonShine. Our infant and toddlers focus on social emotional connections and play.
In our 2 year old rooms we introduce a Fireflies curriculum with social emotional, and early cognitive skill sets. We begin potty training and build on skills of independence they are beginning to learn.
Our 3 year old rooms work with Creative Curriculum that builds on topics allowing children to think, create, explore and investigate. It trickles in to all areas of the classroom and allows for families to join in on the learning experience. It helps develop skills that prepare children for Pre-K and getting ready for Kindergarten in the upcoming years. We also have a Second Step program with structured lessons that prioritize social-emotional learning, building children with necessary skills for regulating emotions, nurturing healthy relationships and building the skills of conflict resolutions and empathy.
